Jimin frees himself from deep-seated emotions on “Set Me Free Pt. 2″, the lead single from his forthcoming debut solo album Sight scheduled for release on March 24. The song comes along with a music video that captures the BTS member as the lead centerpiece in an elaborate choreography routine.
The song features punchy beats that elevate the singer’s vocals as he moves across the screen with a crowd of dancers, all performing in unison as the room flashes in waves of light. “I wandered into a maze / Hennessy and night / I never stop, I never stop / Again, repeat / I never stop, fuck all your opponents / Free at last,” Jimin sings, breaking away from the crowd. Before the chorus, he repeats, “Set me free.”
“Free Me Pt. 2” is the first of six songs on which Jimin will release Sightincluding collaboration credits from producers Pdogg, GHSTLOOP, EVAN and group member RM.
“Through Face, Jimin will present his own musicality with a distinct timbre and impeccable dance performance,” explained a statement about the record, adding that on the album the singer will explore his “story of his true self and take another leap forward as a artist.”
In 2021, Jimin spoke candidly with Rolling stone about the pressure he puts on himself to deliver flawless performances for their fans. “When I made my debut, I had the shortest training period. And I feel like I wasn’t quite ready and confident when we debuted. I still have my shortcoming,” he explained, adding that fans who appreciate his work push him to do better. “It makes me feel like I shouldn’t make any mistakes for their good and for their dedication. So if you’re asking how I can learn to be easier on myself or more generous with myself, I think that’s going to be something that’s going to continue to be very difficult for me because of how I feel.”
